Our client is looking for a Data Management Specialist for a permanent (staff) position, located in Aberdeen (Hybrid working)

ROLE:

Reporting to the Global Data Solutions & Delivery Manager you will be responsible for organising, maintaining, and safeguarding our company’s geospatial data. A significant aspect of this role is to liaise with IT while investigating and implementing best practice technologies related to hybrid cloud working and associated data workflows. Integrating and migrating data from differing sources and platforms. Supervising of staff and networking with data owners and stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure Company data is secure.
  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of master data across various systems.
  • Support data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity and compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Advise on data quality standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend Data Management tools.
  • Collaborate with IT and Business stakeholders to develop and enhance data analytics and workflow efficiency.
  • Perform regular data quality checks and audits to identify and correct discrepancies or inconsistencies of data.
  • Maintenance and support of SQL enterprise database.
  • Lead Data Management team during project execution.
  • Ingress and egress of big data stored within Cloud based portals.
  • Supervision of offshore vessel data management including in-flight transfer to cloud storage.
  • Efficient data delivery to internal and external clients.
  • Troubleshoot issues that emerge relating to end-to-end data workflow.
  • Provide operational data support as required.
  • Support all vessels and projects regarding onboard Survey data storage.
  • Oversee and coordinate file transfer systems while moving data between company entities or 3rd party stakeholders.
  • Liaise with IT and Vessel Fleet IT teams.
  • Occasional travel to support other sites and vessels may be required. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in information management, data analytics, computer science, or a similar field (preferred)
  • Recognised experience within a similar role
  • Technical problem-solving skills
  • Specialisation in data governance or data quality management
  • Thorough knowledge of cloud storage and cloud compute technologies
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of database schemas and structures
  • Advanced computer skills and understanding of data formats
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of principle discipline and peripheral subjects
  • Co-ordination, organisation, and liaison skills
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills. Proactive communication to team and management
  • Creative thinking - recognising, exploring, and using a broad range of ideas and practices
  • Identify technological trends and patterns that could be applied within the organisation
  • Knowledge of web-based technologies applied to data storage and manipulation
  • Understanding and experience of agile project and development methodology would be a valuable addition
  • Understanding and experience in problem solving relating to IT Systems/Software and Project Management would be a distinct advantage
  • A ‘can do’ attitude
  • Self-motivated with ability to prioritise own workload
  • Organised and professional approach to work
  • Experience from a relevant discipline area
  • Understanding of data systems hardware and software is essential
  • Experience of SQL database administration
  • Technical understanding of IT data hardware and networking
  • Experience managing large datasets, implementing data standards, and collaborating with IT and business teams to ensure data integrity
