Electrical Design Engineer
Our oil and gas industry client, based in Aberdeenshire, is seeking an Electrical Engineer on a staff permanent basis, to work onshore in their office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Responsibilities:
- Apply technical knowledge to design, develop, and validate innovative electrical engineering solutions.
- Lead small to medium-sized design projects under the supervision of the Principal Engineer.
- Prepare and check engineering documents including drawings, manuals, reports, and calculations.
- Participate in design and sales contract reviews, ensuring commercial implications are considered.
- Carry out cost estimates and ensure designs meet budget and timeline requirements.
- Support factory acceptance tests, site installations, and commissioning activities as required.
- Implement engineering change procedures effectively to minimise disruption.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
Desired Responsibilities:
- Engage in client meetings, ensuring customer needs are prioritised.
- Contribute to engineering support functions by investigating and resolving technical queries.
- Stay updated with industry advancements and incorporate relevant innovations into designs.
- Provide global support to other business units where required, including travel for client meetings and site activities.
REQUIREMENTS
Essential Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar electrical design engineering role.
- Proficiency in Eplan and Autodesk Inventor.
- Strong understanding of IEC Standards, EU Directives, CE Marking, ATEX, IECEx, and Norsok standards.
- Knowledge of ISO9001 and demonstrable experience with engineering documents and drawings.
- Working knowledge of PLM/PDM data systems and 3D CAD tools.
- Experience designing and troubleshooting electromechanical systems.
- Computer literacy, with strong skills in Microsoft Office applications.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience leading electrical design projects in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of the energy industry, particularly Wireline Intervention and completion methods.
- Familiarity with wireline winches, masts, and associated product designs.
- Experience preparing technical files compliant with European Regulations.
- Understanding of modern manufacturing technologies and practices.
