Our client is currently recruiting for a Senior Contracts Engineer. Located in Aberdeen, the role is on a permanent (staff) basis and offers a hybrid working arrangement.

ROLE:

The Senior Contracts Engineer is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of subcontracting activities to support duty holder operations across offshore assets. This includes developing subcontracting strategies, drafting and negotiating terms, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company requirements. The role safeguards operational continuity by managing contractual risks, monitoring subcontractor performance, and fostering strong subcontractor relationships to deliver value, maintain safety standards and meet company objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with technical, legal, commercial, and operational teams to design subcontracting strategies that mitigate contractual and operational risks, ensure cost efficiency, and maximise value for duty holder offshore operations.
  • Prepare robust terms and conditions that align with company policies, client contracts, legal and regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, ensuring risk mitigation and protection of company interests.
  • Negotiate PO and subcontract terms and conditions with subcontractors.
  • Lead the end-to-end process for developing, negotiating and executing subcontracts required to support duty holder operations, maintenance campaigns, and engineering & construction projects.
  • Oversee all stages of the subcontracting process, including market engagement, bidder prequalification, tendering, bid evaluation, contract award and post-award administration.
  • Identify and manage contractual risks, cost exposures, and opportunities for savings throughout the subcontract lifecycle.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance against contractual obligations, KPIs, and HSE standards.
  • Record and maintain accurate documentation of all subcontract activities, including subcontract registers, amendments, essential certificates and performance records.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key subcontractors and suppliers to foster collaboration, drive continuous improvement, and ensure long-term performance.

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • A degree in Business, Law or a related field is essential.
  • Extensive knowledge of Oil and Gas industry-standard contract structures, templates, formats with special emphasis on LOGIC model contracts is essential.

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in contracts management roles is essential.
  • Proven experience in drafting and negotiating terms and conditions and managing contracts is essential.
  • Proven experience in drafting back-to-back terms and conditions of contract is essential.
  • Ability to develop and execute subcontracting strategies aligned with project goals is essential.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to identify risk and value opportunities is essential.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and subcontractors is essential.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise workload effectively to meet deadlines is essential.
  • A positive, ‘can-do’ attitude with the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and business needs is essential.
  • Experience supporting duty holder operations and maintenance campaigns gained working for a Tier 1 service company is desirable.
