HSE Manager to join an independent Oil & Gas Operator in Aberdeen

Location: Aberdeen (with offshore travel)

Contract: Agency Worker / PYE Initial 12-month contract (likely extension)

We are seeking an experienced HSE Manager – Assets to provide strong Health, Safety and Environmental leadership across our client’s asset portfolio. Leading and supervising the asset HSE team, driving a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement in HSE performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote a proactive HSE culture through visible leadership, regular site visits, and workforce engagement
  • Lead, plan and manage asset HSE resources and budgets to ensure regulatory and system requirements are met
  • Develop and propose HSE objectives, plans and targets aligned with organisational metrics and goals
  • Analyse leading and lagging HSE performance indicators to identify and prioritise improvement opportunities
  • Support the planning, development and implementation of HSE improvement initiatives
  • Monitor, promote and test compliance with company standards, legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain proactive and regular engagement with relevant regulatory authorities
  • Assess asset regulatory compliance and identify opportunities for improvement, providing feedback to asset leadership
  • Lead and prepare for audits, inspections and site visits, ensuring learnings are shared and actions implemented
  • Establish and maintain effective arrangements for regulatory inspections
  • Lead the performance management process across the HSE team, ensuring clear objectives, regular feedback and development planning
  • Role model organisational values and high standards of behaviour, coaching managers and teams accordingly
  • Sponsor skills, competency and career development, encouraging progression, lateral moves and challenging assignments

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Detailed working knowledge of UK HSE legislation and regulatory requirements, particularly relating to Major Accident Hazards
  • Proven experience of cross-functional collaboration across multiple sites and stakeholders
  • Strong leadership capability with experience managing and developing teams
  • Track record of driving HSE performance improvement in complex asset environments

Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant technical discipline or HSE-related diploma (e.g. NEBOSH)
  • Professional membership of a relevant institute
  • ISO Lead Auditor qualification (or equivalent)
  • Ability and willingness to travel offshore
